At the time, we all thought 2010 was a cold vintage. That was before 2011 came along! In revisiting our notes on the 2010 vintage, it was a mild season characterized by good yields and consistency throughout the growing season.
This three-bottle library horizontal is the perfect snapshot of what Alta Colina Vineyard was doing ten years ago. It was our fourth vintage and we really solidified three of our signature wines: GSM, Toasted Slope Syrah, and Old 900 Syrah.
As always, GSM is our nod to a traditional Rhone blend. Grenache-driven and fruit-forward, GSM is the perfect place to start when it comes to Paso Rhones.
Our two signature Syrahs come from specific hillsides on Alta Colina Vineyard: Toasted Slope is our warm, southwest-facing slope while Old 900 is planted across the canyon on the one north-facing section of the Vineyard. We quickly learned that letting each part of the Vineyard be its own wine made for two stellar Syrahs over one good one!
