Our GSM blend is traditionally dominated by Grenache. Additional Mourvédre made the blend in 2016, primarily to beef up the mid-palate. The Grenache is predominately clone362 (head-trained) with 42% 136 (trellised) making up the blend. Both clones have excellent color and challenging tannin structures. The Syrah is from Block 1 on the Toasted Slope, and the Mourvédre is our standby clone 369. Each is fermented and barreled down separately, then tasted and combined at the 16 month point. Grenache sees no new oak, the Mourvédre about 25% new oak,and the Syrah about 67% new oak.
