GREAT WINES ARE GROWN.
Daily, 11am – 4pm
What We’re About
Our singular purpose is to grow superior Rhône-style wines. Founded in 2003, Alta Colina grows Rhônes in the heart of Paso Robles’ westside.
Owner/winemaker, Bob Tillman, fell in love with this Adelaida District property because of its high elevation and unlimited potential for quality. A true family winery, Bob and Lynn Tillman, along with daughter Maggie, are forging a legacy of quality and sustainability.
Signature wines include Claudia Cuvee Marsanne, Model Citizen Roussanne, 12 O’Clock High Viognier, GSM, Sun Worshipper, Toasted Slope Syrah, Old 900 Syrah, and Ann’s Block Petite Sirah.
Wine Is Grown, Not Made
A high-elevation site (peaking at 1,800 feet above sea level), Alta Colina yields some of California’s most distinctive and balanced Rhônes. Thanks to steep, exposed soils of fractured shale and our proximity to the Pacific, our location ensures enough sun to mature even our latest ripening variety (Mourvèdre!) and overnight temperatures low enough to maintain acid.
Our wines are organically ‘grown’ on the 31-acre estate Vineyard, hand harvested, and minimally processed in our energy-efficient winery facility, located just downhill from the Vineyard.
A Journey 35 Years In The Making
In 2003, owner/winemaker Bob Tillman first walked the 130 acre property that would become Alta Colina Vineyard. After 35 years as an engineer by day, home winemaker by night, Alta Colina is his vision from ground to glass.
Since our founding, Alta Colina has become known as both one of Paso Robles’ most beautiful Vineyards and one of the Central Coast’s most acclaimed Rhône producers. While demand is high and case count is low, our team is always developing new ways to experience Alta Colina beyond our intimate tasting room and wait list for membership. Reserve a Cellar Door Tasting, Summit Vineyard Tasting, or wake up surrounded by vines at the Trailer Pond.
